- Building on and in collaboration with the Global Observatory for Physical Activity – GoPA! – establish the Global Observatory for Physical Education – GoPE! – as a recognized and credible global platform that systematically monitors and supports the improvement of policies, surveillance systems, and research related to quality physical education and health-enhancing school-based physical activity.
- Deliver high-quality, ongoing information to help reduce the global prevalence of physical inactivity among children and adolescents.
- Support national and international knowledge transfer across policy, surveillance, and research to continually improve the quality of physical education and health-enhancing school-based physical activity.
- Promote increased visibility, volume, and quality of peer-reviewed scientific publications on quality physical education and school-based physical activity research, ensuring equitable representation across the globe.
Secondary
Policy
- Collaborate and support international and national agencies, policymakers and all stakeholders with evidence and actionable tools to advocate and implement impactful changes in physical education and health-enhancing school-based physical activity systems.
- Encourage national and international cooperation and multi-sectoral partnerships in policy development and implementation to advance quality physical education and school-based physical activity strategies and programs.
- Encourage policymakers and national agencies to engage in, adopt, and support national and international surveillance systems and research on quality physical education and school-based physical activity.
- Provide a comprehensive and updated collection of worldwide policies about quality physical education and school-based physical activity.
Surveillance
- Inform countries on national, formal, and external surveillance systems to evaluate the quality physical education and health-enhancing school-based physical activity policy implementation.
- Support the countries with developing standardized, longitudinal and nationally representative data on quality physical education, school-based physical activity and youth’s physical activity.
- Maximize the visibility and availability of high-quality surveillance data repositories on quality physical education and school-based physical activity to foster global knowledge-sharing and best practice dissemination.
Research
- Strengthen research capacity in low- and middle-income countries by increasing collaboration and knowledge exchange.
- Support and disseminate the volume of research studies in quality physical education and health-enhancing school-based physical activity globally, and particularly in low and middle-income countries.
- Promote national and cross-national, longitudinal and intervention research on the impact of quality physical education and health-enhancing school-based physical activity on physical, psychological, social, cognitive and health-related outcomes globally.
